Introduction
The France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship, commonly referred to as the French Government Scholarship, was established by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Eiffel Scholarship Program aims to assist various French institutions of higher education in attracting highly talented and outstanding international students to pursue master's and doctoral programs. Recognized as one of the most prestigious scholarships in Europe for international students.
Fields of Study Available for France Government Scholarship:
France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship covers two main disciplinary fields, including seven study areas for master’s and doctorate programs.

Duration of Eiffel Excellence Scholarship 2024:
- M1 Level Master: Maximum of 12 months for students entering the 2nd year of master’s.
- M2 Level Master: Maximum of 24 months for students entering the 1st year of master’s.
- Engineering Program Scholarship: Maximum of 36 months for students entering an engineering program.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria for the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship 2024:
- Applicants must be international students, excluding French nationals.
- Individuals holding dual nationality, with one of the nationalities being French, are not eligible for this program.
- For a master’s scholarship, applicants must be 25 years old, and for a PhD scholarship, the age limit is 30 years at the time of selection.
- Applicants previously declined in different competitions are ineligible for this program.
- Recipients of the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship in previous instances are not eligible to reapply for the scholarship program in 2024.
- Those who were granted the Eiffel Scholarship for the master’s program are permitted to apply for a scholarship for the doctorate program.
- Applicants currently pursuing studies in France are not eligible to apply for the master’s program. Priority will be given to students studying outside of France for the doctorate program over French students.
Benefits
Benefits of the French Government Scholarship 2024 include:
- A monthly stipend of €1,181 for master's level recipients and €1,700 for doctorate recipients.
- The scholarship covers international air travel in the least expensive class through the Eiffel Excellence Scholarships.
- Local transportation within France (including domestic travel support) is provided for study locations.
- Assistance is offered to help students find suitable housing.
- Health insurance coverage is part of the Eiffel Scholarships.
- Students have the opportunity to engage in various cultural activities.
- Notably, tuition fees are not covered under the Eiffel Scholarship Program.

Application Process:
Step-1
Prospective applicants are required to reach out to the Campus France office in their country or the Cooperation and Culture Office of the French Embassy. This can be done through email, phone calls, or by visiting their official website to acquire information on the application process, admission deadlines, and to express their interest in being considered for the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship. Both offices serve as valuable resources to guide applicants in planning their studies.
It is the responsibility of applicants to carefully choose the school or university that aligns with their study plans. All French institutions of higher education have the authority to nominate candidates for the French Government Scholarships.
Step-2
Upon selecting the educational institution, the applicant proceeds to complete the necessary application for the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship. The institution, once in support of the applicant, submits the application online using Campus France’s dedicated website.
It is crucial to note that applications sent directly by students or institutions located outside France will not be considered eligible and will be rejected.
